Hooray – It’s Gin Friday – Week 5!
As an outside catering and events company, we have a keen interest in current trends, and we’re not adverse to a tipple or two. We are always on the look out for new products and ingredients to create that perfect wedding welcome cocktail, or party starter. To that end, we thought we’d combine our love of all things alcoholic with a bit of background on one of our favourite drinks du jour: gin. Every Friday we will pick one of our personal picks from our own range, and tell the world about it.
So, this week’s Gin of The Week (#gotw) is Martin Miller’s.
This gin is distilled in a single traditional pot still, that they have named Angela. Martin Miller’s set out to make one of the best, freshest soft gins with great clarity of flavour. The multitude of awards – including World Gin Award for best contemporary gin – demonstrate that this has certainly been achieved.
It is infused with their botanicals just like you would a cup of tea (obviously with a lot more skill!) and what separates Miller’s from a lot of the competition is that each botanical is distilled separately to give more pronounced tasting notes.
Once the distillation has taken place, the spirit is then shipped off all the way to Iceland, where it is gently blended with spring water from their own spring.
For such great lengths taken to achieve the ultimate gin, Martin Miller’s represents superb value for money; it’s a quality gin at a great price point. It’s great as a traditional G&T, or used in cocktails to add a real sense of depth, and is always a recommendation from our bar staff.
